W 2014 roku upamiętniliśmy Marię Kaczyńską w Złotowie. Okolicznościowa tablica znajduje się na budynku przy ulicy ks. Domańskiego 27. Byłem pomysłodawcą tego wydarzenia oraz współorganizatorem towarzyszących uroczystości. Henryka Brodziaka poznałem kilkanaście lat temu. Przyznam, że z wielu względów darzyłem sympatią tego człowieka. Najbardziej za jego miłość do historii Krajny, w tym zwłaszcza za niezwykle ważne opracowanie "Czy to było wyzwolenie?", które dokumentowało zbrodnie sowietów na Ziemi Krajeńskiej w 1945 roku. Powstanie Wielkopolskie to szczególny zryw narodowy w historii Polski. Jego wyjątkowość polega na tym, że był to czyn zbrojny zakończony sukcesem. Przy kolejnych obchodach rocznic (wybuch 27 grudnia 1918 - Poznań, symboliczne zakończenie 16 lutego 1919 – pokój w Trewirze) wspomina się z reguły polityków z nim związanych (np. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego), jego dowódców (np. Stanisława Taczaka) i najważniejsze bitwy (np. o poznańską „Ławicę”). W cieniu tego pozostają zwykli żołnierze. Z reguły nie wymienia się ich z nazwiska. To sprawia, że pozostają anonimowi także w lokalnych społecznościach.
